"The operation failed due to network or other communication problems.
Check your connections and try again"

I'm getting this error message on a number of my computers. It will
display part of the screen in the top left corner with this message.
When i click ok it continues to open the email without any problems.

I had found a solution that requires me to removed some Registry
Entrys and then do a Detect and Repair on Microsoft Outlook which
hasen't solved the problem. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Office 2000 w/ SP3
Internet Mail and Microsoft Mail

Thanks,

Mark

I was having the same problem...
1. I tried to replace normal.dot and it didn't work
2. I then tried to delete registry key related to NAV and it didn't work either
3. what worked for me at the end was fixing this OLE problem:
Open the "run" command:
Start->Run:
Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll
I hope this helps....

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS SOLUTION. I TRIED 12 OTHER ONES AND NONE OF THEM WORKED. THIS WAS THE ONLY ONE THAT DID. YOU SAVED MY SANITY.

To fix 'The operation failed due to network or other communication problems' error in Outlook, delete HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{00020906-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}key from the registry editor and also add Regsvr32.exe %Windir%\System32\Ole32.dll in the system registry. After this, to complete the repair process use Detect and Repair in Outlook.
