The Lost Keyboard

My friend did a reinstall of Windows XP Home (on top of
his previous installation) After that his keyboard
stopped responding. I tried removing it from the hardware
tree and scanning for changes, switching it out with a
USB keyboard and replacing the i8042prt.sys and
kbdclass.sys driver files to no avail.

If anyone has ever seen this bug before and/or squashed
it's little guts out ... Please reply

Try going in to your bios and take a look at the system date and see if it
is set to an advanced date. I know this sounds stupid but I have run in to a
couple of computer with that same problem
