I'm trying to install Windows XP Home on a home-built
system. When I install the OS on a SATA RAID
configuration it copies the files to the HD then reboots,
when it reaches that point again, it detects "another OS"
which of course is itself from the last install. For
some dumb reason the OS does not realize that it is
really it's own previous pre-installation ready to be
installed. I have tried reformatting (full and quick),
leaving it alone, which gives me the option to delete it
(done that), and going into the recovery. Nothing
works. One would think that the setup program would
realize that the files are already pre-copied and not a
full install.
System Info:
CPU: P4 3GHz
Mobo: Giga-Byte GA-8KNXP Ultra (updated with latest Bios)
Mem: Kingston 512MB 400Mhz DDR x2
HD: 2x SATA WD 250GB set up in a RAID 0 config.
Video: ATI AIW 9800 Pro
DVD: Plextor DVD/CD-RW
