the contacts index bar in windows xp needs to be redesigned

the grouping together of the most popular letters in the alphabet on the
index bar renders the index bar useless for finding contacts. i.e. "a" &
"b", and "c" & "d", are together. i cannot find any place to customize the
index bar.

They are not grouped together for me. What version of Outlook are we talking
about here? In what resolution are you running?

Tips of the month:
-FREE tool; QuickMail. Create new Outlook items anywhere from within Windows
-Properly back-up and restore your Outlook data
 
It's the resolution. When you switch to 1024 × 768 or higher they will
ungroup directly (even no need to restart Outlook). With a resolution that
low there just isn't enough room to display them individually.
