My computer, XP Professional, last fully patched/updated on 6th April
2006, including Defender Beta 2 now does not start at all. It keeps
rebooting and gives me an opportunity to go into SAFE MODE, or start normally etc etc
but nothing works.

Which file(s) do I need to copy to make it start properly so that I can
copy my website pages before I decide to reformat.

Right click My Computer and choose Properties | Hardware.
Click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section at the bottom.
Uncheck Automatically Restart.

The next time, instead of restarting it will show you a blue screen. We
need to know the details it gives about the failure.
