Thank you Frodo for your help. I understand now what XP is doing and will use the winzip method that you have suggested to work around the problem.

Maybe someday Microsoft will fix the problem as it is causing alot of headaches. At work a co-worker copied all the last three years of grant files to a CD and then couldn't tell them apart as they all had the same date (she is very disorganized in naming files and doesn't use folders) .

Your co-worker should learn how to organize properly.. one can hardly expect
MS to fix somebody else's problem..
