Textbox problem in Word 2000

Dear all,

I'm using Word 2000 and when I create a textbox and put text in it, the
alignment will be at the top. However, I have no idea how to change it to
middle centered.
I know I can do that in PowerPoint but seems Word 2000 does not have that
function.

Please let me know and thanks very much.

Hi Matthew,

A text box by itself doesn't have any ability to vertically center
text. However, a table cell does, and you can insert a one-cell table
inside the text box. Drag the bottom edge of the table cell down near
the bottom of the text box. Press Ctrl+Alt+U to turn off the table's
border lines. Right-click in the cell, click Cell Alignment, and
choose one of the three vertically centered alignments (left, center,
or right).

The alternative is to add Space Before to the first paragraph in the
text box to align the text visually. That often isn't as precise as
automatic centering, and will have to be redone if you change the
text.
