Is there any way to correct the pronunciation of text to speech? For
example, my wife's name is Delise (pronounced Duh-lise) but the Vista TTS
engine keeps pronouncing it DEE-LICE!!

Maybe if she took a bath.... <sorry -- couldn't resist> :-)

don't worry are you speaking the pure francaise ? which province?

for spanish language i've to distinguish between de spanish "c" or
southamerican pronunciation "s", ll for y are very different sounds
perhaps the speech recognition needs a hard training like the people receive
in the school
j'ai perdú la plumme dans le jardin de ma tante
translation: i've lost the pen at my aunt's garden

This isn't speech recognition - it's the text to speech pronunciation ( I
have a talking caller ID program, and when my wife calls I hate the way it
mispronunciates her name!)

I'm a fish out of water here, but can you record a short clip in your own
voice with the correct pronunciation and assign it to her entry in the caller
ID program?

Yeah, guess I could. Point is, way back when (Win95 days) Creative's text to
speech program had the ability to correct pronunciation. You'd think Vista
would at least have some ability like that1
