okay, I give up. How do I increase the size of text on my computer?
Windows XP Pro v.2002 SP 2 on a Dell Latitude D810.

specifically where? web pages, or just in general on your xp icons, desktop
text, etc?
If you go to 'display' in control panel, you can click on the appearance tab
click on 'font size' and select the size you want. Then click the advance
button and from there find the drop down menu, click on each item listed and
for those items that the font size can be changed you will be given another
drop down menu to select from.
If it's web pages, you can click on 'view' on the toolbar and select 'text
size'> increase, decrease, or normal.
For taskbar, rt click the taskbar>properties>Start menu>customize>select
icon size for programs.

You *can't* increase the size of text on your computer. What you can (often)
do is increase the size of text in a specific application. How to do that
depends on the specific application, but in many applications you can hold
down the CTRL key and scroll the mouse wheel. One direction makes it bigger,
the other smaller.

After adjusting font sizes from Display Properties | Appearance |
Advanced, I had in addition to adjust Display Properties | Settings |
Advanced | Display DPI Setting | Custom Setting. I now have it at 150%
of normal size (144 dpi), and I might still decide to further increase
it in the future.
