Hi,

With a new install of XP Pro my Desktop shorts have a blue highlight
behind the text name.

How can I change this?

Thanks

Right-click on your desktop and select:

Properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web (tab)
and uncheck "Lock Desktop Items", click OK and APPLY.

Also, check this setting:

Right-click MY COMPUTER and select:
Properties > Advanced > Performance settings >
Visual Effects, place a check next to "Use Drop Shadows
for Icon Labels on the Desktop", then click "apply".

My company just installed WINDOWS XP on my company machine. The Blue Highlight around my Desktop Icon Labels is gone. I tried both methods recommended but when I select properties under my computer and go to Advanced there is no option for performance settings. I don't know if the adminstrator removed the option. Is there any other way to get the blue highlight. My eyesight is poor and the highlight helps
