text is deleted from delimited file?

I am using Excel to build CSV files for MySQL database population. I am
running into an intermittant problem with text being deleted when I
reopen the file in Excel and when I import the file into MySQL. If I
open the the text file with notepad, the text is still there. I have a
file with 100+ rows and it only happens on a few of the rows. It's not
happening in the same character space on each row. Any ideas?
