Hi anyone,

I wander if there is any way to open and then save a text
file in access with the data from one of the fields in a
form...
Basically what I need is
1. Take the string from the user.
2. Insert it in the text file.
3. Save the file.

Is it possible?

Thanks for your time and advice.

Alex

Private Sub cmdTest_Click()

Dim intFile As Integer
Dim strFile As String
Dim boolOpen As Boolean

On Error GoTo ErrorHandler
strFile = CurrentProject.Path & "\usertxt.txt"
intFile = FreeFile

'This will create the file if it does not exist, or append
'the text to the end of the file if it already exists. If
'you want to overwrite the file if it already exists, use
'For Output instead of For Append.
Open strFile For Append As intFile

boolOpen = True
Print #intFile, Me!txtTest.Value
Close intFile
boolOpen = False

ExitProcedure:

'Try to ensure that the file is not left open, even if an error occurs.
On Error Resume Next
If boolOpen Then
Close intFile
boolOpen = False
End If
Exit Sub

ErrorHandler:
MsgBox "Error " & Err.Number & ": " & Err.Description, vbOKOnly Or
vbInformation
Resume ExitProcedure

End Sub

Yes, it is possible using the Open Statement (which you can read up on in
VBA Help) and the Print or Write Statements. Something like the following:

Open "MyText.txt" for Output as 1
Print #1, "This is my text value."
Close #1

There are many arguments to the Open Statement, so you will need to consult
the VBA help to be sure you get what you want.
