Text file created on xp pro will not read on dos based
machine, xp pro ntfs format. But can copy file to desktop
on xp home machine and reformat disk on that machine and
copy back to disk, then dos based machine can read file
fine. Any ideas what can be done?

Thanks

*What* is formatted as NTFS?

You are saying you type up a plain text file in Notepad on a Windows XP
machine, copy that file to a formatted floppy diskette, take that floppy
diskette to another machine with DOS on it and cannot read it?

YMMV, but I workaround the problem by:

- Purchasing high-quality disks
- Formatting the disks on a WinXP machine before using them
