After turning on my computer today, I noticed that some of the text in
different folders ( my documents etc) has changed color from black to blue!
Not all of the text in each folder, just some. Very strange...any suggestions
about correcting the problem? I did try changing properties without success.
Thanks!

Disk Cleanup's Compress Old Files been at work.

David.
I do a disk cleanup frequently. DO you think that is the problem? How do I
correct it? Renaming the files does not change the color of them.
Thanks!

That indicates that the files have been compressed to save space. Not
usually done by any automatic process, apart from the $NTUninstall
folders in Windows, and the restore points (which you would not see) and
certainly not automatically in My Documents. It can pay off on text
files/documents, but not on photos (jpg) music (Mp3 or WMA, or movies
(MPG or WMV) which are already as compressed as possible. You can
r-click, Properties, click Advanced to compress or uncompress.

R-click - Properties, click Advanced and uncheck 'Compress' box.

BTW Disk Cleanup appears to have dropped compressing old files in SP2

Ron & Alex,
Thank you so much! I was able to uncheck the color box for compressed files.
When I right click on properties there is no advanced button other than
under plug & play and appearance. There is no box for compressed files. What
am I doing wrong? Thanks so much!

Sorry, I should have said, for each compressed file, right click,
Properties, Advanced button, uncheck 'Compress.....'.
