Hello,

Thanks for the help. We use Powerpoint at our church. I am having a
problem training a person to create the pp presentation because when
they try to display my samples on their computer everything is shifted
around.

We create the presentations at home and then take them to church to run
them. We had this problem once before with a different person, in that
when they would get to church they would have to move the text back to
it's proper position, but mine has always worked fine.

I am running PowerPoint 97 on a Win98 computer, which works fine with
the churches computer, which is newer (PowerPoint 2000 something, and
Win 2000). The other person I am training also has a newer version of
PowerPoint, 2000 something or other, and Windows XP.

We have the same size monitors, set to the same resolution. I have
tried to find some setting that may be different and causing the
prolem, but the ones that we have compared have been the same.

Any suggesitons?

Randy

Do you have exactly the same fonts installed on all systems? What fonts are
being used in the presentations?

Have them check the slide size and proportions. It should be a 3:4 ratio
for screen presentations (no paper sizes like letter or A4). Slide size
differs in the newer and older versions of PowerPoint, but the ratio should
be the same.

Kind regards,
Ute

That's a great question. I don't know (yet) what the other person has
for their DPI setting, but mine was set higher. I went to my (Win98)
Desktop Properties>Settings>Advanced...>General tab, and here's what it
says:

"Font Size:"
"other..."
"114% normal size (110 dpi)"

Do you think this being set higher, or different for the other person,
might be causing the problem?
Thanks,
Randy

The fonts I am using for my sample presentation are Jester and Comis
San MS. I just assumed the other person had the same fonts installed
on their computer, but that's a good thought. Maybe they don't, and
Windows is making a substitution. I will check on that.

Thank you,
Randy

I am hoping I am checking this correctly... If that setting would be in
the File menu, uner Page Setup..., then I am at 10" wide and 7.5" high,
which as you suggest, would be a 3:4 ratio, at least on my computer.
I'm already checking with the other person on that very point, so
hopefully I'll know sometime soon.

I appreciate your help. Along with the DPI and Fonts questions, your
suggestion gives me a third setting to compare.
