A user has created a slide master but when she goes to
enter text on the first slide in normal view, the text
boxes are gone.

We are using Windows 2000 and Office 2000, SP3. Thanks,
Katherine

Is she creating text boxes with text that appears on every slide, or is
she creating text boxes that the user can type something into on every
slide (known as placeholders). If she is trying to do the latter,
unfortunately, she can't. PowerPoint does not allow users to create
their own placeholders.

Yes she chose a layout that includes text placeholders.
What appears when we go back to normal view is a line down
the centre and across the middle of the slide and there
are no text placeholders. K

We resolved the problem. She was creating a blank slide
and then couldn't see any text boxes. We deleted the blank
slide and she'll add the appropriate slide that includes
text boxes. Thanks, Katherine

In normal view, go to Format > Slide Layout. There you will see the choices.
The one that has been selected will be highlighted. Does it have any
placeholders? If so, she must have deleted them on the slide. Have her insert
another slide and pick the placeholder she wants. Does it now work?
