Hi,

How do you vertically align (center vertically) text in a TextBox? I am
using WORD 2000 and cannot find anything about centering vertically.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Word (even Word 2003) does not offer this feature (Publisher does). But you
can put a single-cell borderless table in the text box and use the vertical
alignment controls for tables.

Hi Jerry,

You couldn't find anything about it because it isn't there. :-(

You can set centered vertical alignment for text in a table cell, or
for regular text in a section, but the option doesn't exist for a
textbox.

One way to fake it is to use Space Before formatting for the first
paragraph of the textbox text. Another way is to use a one-cell table
instead of a textbox, and drag the table to the desired size and
position. Which way might be "better" depends on what you want to put
into the box.

Hi,

Thanks Suzanne and Jay. That is what I thought. I am writing a macro that
draws shapes and I need to center text vertically and horizontally. I posed
a question about graphics and Jezebel lead me to believe that I did not need
the one cell table. Thanks for confirming that I do need it. Was going
crazy looking for some hidden tidbit.
