ok, this might be a stupid question but...

I go into IE and delete temporary internet files

I then run a search for *.jpg and all my old temporary internet files are
still there???

what sort of logic is this and just what do you have to do to actually
delete/remove temporary internet files?

thanks

polly

After you have done your temp file cleanup, do a defrag,
then reboot, then see if those files are still searchable.

You might like to take a look at a freeware (it's actually 'donateware' but
you can use it for free on 1 to 2 machines) application called CleanCache
2.10 (www.buttuglysoftware.com) This will clean out your temp internet
files, cookies, history, recent documents, search history, temp directory
and a host of other cache's, including the index.dat files. I use it daily.

ok, I can download freeware utils to do it and I can even do it manually but
what is the logic behiond the design whereby something so basic fails?

Just call it one of those harmless "bugs" that the techie forgot to fix (:
If you really want to go and see if the TIF's are gone, go to "C:\Documents
and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files". I go this
route to delete them over the clean-up via IE. Wonder if this method would
take care of the Search listing of non-existing .jpg's ?

An MVP I ain't.

Why not set IE to delete ALL temporary internet files on program
close?? Works for me...every time.
