Amount of Disk Space to use: 2048MB (2GB).

Amount used - before they disappeared: 252MB (about 10 %).

I did turn off and turn back on - "system restore" [to remove a Trojan in
'System Volume Information']. Was that the cause or do I have a serious
problem?

They are called temporary because they are not really needed after you close
down Internet Explorer. Don't fret over something that is not a problem.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking.

I had set that folder at 2048MB (2GB).

WHY did they disappear when only about 10% of the space allotment was used?

Thanks.

I realize that they are "temporary", however when I have set a *specific
space allotment figure*, nothing should be deleted until
that amount of space is used.

So, do you have Internet Explorer set to delete the files upon closing. It
can be configured to do so, you know, under advanced configuration. Also,
there are 3rd party utilities that can, and will do this when they are run
in the background!

Under "Internet Options" "Advanced" 'Empty TIF folder when browser is
closed' is NOT checked.

I have the same 3rd party utilities that I have had the past (2) two to (3)
three years.

Let's recap:

1. I had a Trojan.

2. In order to remove this Trojan from System Volume Information: System
Restore had to be turned OFF, then ON.

A. The Trojan Deleted the TIF?
B. Turning System Restore OFF Deleted the TIF?
C. I have a SERIOUS problem?

Yes! I now monitor the TIF - BECAUSE - if DSL ever goes down again; I do NOT
want to wait . . . eons ( yes, eons) for a dam webpage to load with info
that should have been QUICKLY obtained from the TIF.

OH! "History" is set for 65 DAYS - is that something that will simply
'disappear' too--- long before the 65 days???
