Free for a limited time. What's the hook? There is none. This is not a
trial version. This will not dissolve in thirty days. It is FREE. Why
would we do this? We want to get your feedback on this first release. We
want to get a buzz going. And free is a pretty powerful way to get that
started. No risk to you, no cost to you. At least for now, you can
download the product and manual for FREE. And, if you love it, we'd like
you to tell your friends. If you don’t like it, please tell us. Thanks.

The catch is, you've got to register for it....... what price do you put on
your e-mail?

Keeping it FREE!

Well, look at the download page at
http://www.upshotphoto.com/digital_editing/software_download.php & look
at one of the check boxes which says Yes, I want to pay $20.00 now for
one year of updates and cool new features.

So in actuallity, while this prog is going to be free for 30 days, if
you want the new updates & features, you're going to have to pay for
it. So, this prog isn't really freeware, they are allowing a freeware
download for 30 days for people to try it & give them feedback but
after that, you will have to pay for this prog.

I made up a dodgeit.com address to get the link. Download is 83.5 MB
though.

The way I read it is that this is a one-shot deal to download and use
THIS version as freeware. If/when a NEW version is released, you have
to pay to upgrade.

Still technically freeware, I guess, but....

Derald;

I've never tried it, never heard of it but I'm gonna go out on a limb
and say it's a...it's a...Photo Editor.

Could you please at least give us some reasons to want to have a look at yet
another photo editor?

I think Derald was asking the same thing that crossed my mind: At
83.5 MB, what does it do that can't already be done with smaller apps
like IrfanView, DC Enhance and a few others. I did download it but
haven't actually installed and tested it yet so I really don't have an
answer.

Just downloaded it to try it out against other image editors.
Everything about it works very slowly and because I am not a very patient
man, I uninstalled it again after a couple of hours.
I'll stick to the programs I have.

What on Earth does it _do_?

I installed and played with it a bit, but what I found most helpful was to
view the short video tutorials on the UpShot web site. These make it very
clear what the program is capable of, which is quite a lot. I currently use
MS Digital Image Pro 10 as my main editor and UpShot has many of the same
advanced features, such as erasing objects, histograms, cloning tool, etc.
This does a lot more than the usual color/exposure balance and red-eye
removal offered by other freeware editors. I still prefer DIP10, but that
may be because I already know the GUI and UpShot is not immediately
intuitive to me. It's worth a closer look IMHO. I wouldn't write it off
just because it's a large download. Of course ymmv.

Too bad, because I was interested in using its batch image enhancement
feature as a
replacement for DCenhance.
