can anybody tell me if I can create and save a template where there is text
at the bottom of te page and when using it again the text at the bottom of
the page does not go on to the following page
 
That would depend entirely on the program the template was for. You may
wish to ask in the Word group if you are using Microsoft Word, or
elsewhere for other programs. It's not a feature of nor dependent on the
Windows XP operating system.
