whats the normal temp range for desktops? mine is brand new and normally runs
89f to 93f, but when I play Doom 3, it jumps to 115f-120f.(I'm reading the
temp from the holding f1 on start screens). untill I can get some more or
better fans, I took one side off the case-(I live olone with no kids or pets,
so its not a problem)-am I being to apprehensive?-

Hi Okeefe, you running AMD or Intel. Amd's run a little hotter but
around 90f is way too high man.
I have an Intel, 2.8 with 1 gb of mem and a 64 mb vid card and my cpu
runs around 48F and when i play my MOHAA games (all the highest
settings) or similar (doom3 is on the list :) ) it actually starts
beeping from the motherboard speaker when it reaches 90f (internal
alarms)... but 90 normally is too high.
Not sure how your cooling is set up. I have 1 x 3" input fan and 2 x 3"
exhaust fans with a Zalman cpu fan. Make sure you have no obstructions
in the airflow path, like cables etc.. Does removing the case panel help?

I be amazed if you're running 48 degrees F unless you're running
cooled water through your system. Most likely you're seeing
Centigrade.. 48C = approx 118F...at 90C you're at 190F. 90C is WAY
HOT. You need better cooling. Your motherboard will beep and warn
you of a overheating condition based on what your temp warning setting
is set within your bios. I'd recommend setting the warning lower
than 90C.

My P4 3.0Ghz system's normal temp is 38C or 100.4F. btw.
