What TERMINAL TYPE do you have set? SET TERM {ANSI|VT100|VT52|VTNT

Is "SET LOCALECHO OFF" or "UNSET LOCALECHO

XP's telnet client is downright AWFUL - the worst POS, I can't believe MS
even has the gall to include it, it's an embarassment.

Find a free third party client, like Hyperterminal.

Hyperterminal? Ah that one of XP's builtin telnet clients.

Wow, someone was recommending something to use instead of the built in
telnet and recommended HyperTerminal? Ouch.

Please,. choose a better client than that.
Use PuTTy. That will work for you, is free, gives you tons of options, is
small, etc...

Why tell someone to d/l hyperterminal when it's built in to XP.

Well, I thought you covered that pretty well (thus I left it in.) *grin*

I wanted to point out that if you are going to suggest something, suggest
something with more features and more widely used. =)
