TCP/IP stack in WIN XP/Pro

Possible loss of Win XP/Pro TCP/IP stack. Had a SOHO LAN,
with a local DNS server and the WIN XP system worked fine
with TCP/IP and modem dialup to an ISP. After upgrading
the SOHO to a T1 ISP link, only the Win XP system failed
to work on the LAN. Hardware is an HP Pavilion 9800,
512MB RAM, with built-in NIC. Other WIN 2K and Linux,
Solaris systems all work correctly. Already tried
replacing the NIC (3Com), CAT5 cable and hub, nothing
changes While running a packet sniffer on the LAN I can
verify that ICMP works correctly when used with IP
addresses, such as ping. Any use of applications which
rely on TCP or UDP (IP) fail to put any packets on the
wire. The sniffer shows no traffic to or from the XP
host. ipconfig results are as expected. I do have DCOM,
Service Control Manager and MrxSmb errors in the
Eventlog. Have deinstalled and reinstalled the ethernet
adaptor, reset all of the TCP/IP configs in the control
pannel, etc. Any ideas what is going-on and the solution
would be great.

I have the SAME problem. ipconfig /renew doesn't fix it. Apps through windows (IE6) don't work but IM does ????
