I want to connect my DSL, but it requires TCP/IP, and
that is not set up in XP. What do I need to do, for this
to work. I am a newbie to this, so any help with this is
greatly appreciated.

Go to Control panel
double click Network Connections,
click Create a new connection,
click connect to the internet,
The wizard should make the connection for you.

Perhaps I need to be more clear, although I did try your
suggestion. When I try and run the setup fpr DSL service,
I get this message:" Your computer has a network adapter
installed, but not bound to TCP/IP. You must bind the
adapter to TCP/IP, before you can continue loading for
DSL connection". I apologize, I should have explained
that first. When I talked to the service provider, they
said I would need to search and connect the two; then
they said they were not bound to explain anything else
and how to do it because it was my computer's issue, and
not the provider. S-o-o. any further help is greatly
appreciated.....Tiger

OK, go to the control panel again,
double click network connections,
right click local area connection Icon,
select properties,
scroll down and highlite Internet Protocol [TCP/IP]
Click install,
Click OK

Back at the desktop, Reboot

I got as far as higliting the TCP/IP, and
to 'Install,....I was then asked whether or not I wanted
to install 'Network Protocol' or NWLinkIPX/SPX/NETBIOS
Compatible Transport Protocol'. Which one do I click.

Thanks again,

Tiger

Who's your ISP providing DSL? If I got that little help
from them I'd change in a heartbeat. Hard to believe
that they'd not give you a hand. SBC sure did for me.

I use IPX/SPX for the network protocol so two or more computers can talk to
each other using Ethernet cards and a hub.

You might experiment a little by selecting other choices to see how they
work for you.
..
Also to answer your other question,
I am using Cableone.net,
but others should work as well.

Good Luck,
Jerry
