Why does Outlook add extra angle brackets to hyperlinksach time the task is changed and saved
How can I stop this?

I think you'll have to give us some more information -- like what version of
Outlook you're using and what steps you're following.

I'm using Outlook 2002. When using hyperlinks to addresses in the data file or to files on the computer, each time I change and save the task a new set <*> of angle brackets are added to the hyperlink.

The follwing is an example;

5/7/2004- Left voice message with HMG Associates mailto:[email protected] Mr Williams wants me to send him the RCP's, State Code reference and a memo about the work not changing the original by adding 1 head. Sent Mr Williams <<<<file://C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\My Documents\2004Docs\04005 MHMR Submittal.pdf>>>> which now contains the area of the State Rules about the 20 head exclusion for plans.
The four <<<<*>>>> means this particular task has been changed three times since I last erased the extra angle brackets.

Here's another example using an in data file reference;

GC <<<<Outlook:Contacts\~Zimmerman Construction>>>>

If I don't use the angle brackets the hyperlinks want work due to spaces in the names of the files and or directories.
