I run an advent 3110, with windows XP Pro. It has an AMD Athlon XP 2100+
(1737MHz) processor, and 512MB Ram.
My problem is that for some reason, things just aren't completing.
Basically, I was trying to put my CD collection to mp3, and was using an old
version of musicmatch to do this, and it worked fine, so I updated to the
newest version (hoping it would be better) and it seems since then I have had
nothing but problems.
I haven't uninstalled musicmatch yet, but I have tried to uninstall other
programs I never use, and noticed in my add or remove programs window there
is a few things I don't know anything about.
These things are
Active Alert (has a logo that looks like santas hat, with an A in it)
Mjuice components (has a computer logo)
There is also a couple of old games I installed on there, that I have
uninstalled, but they are still on the list.
I tried running an antivirus scan (I use Panda Antivirus Platinum, it came
free with my modem) and it got to about 20% and my computer completely froze
up, and that seems to be the case with anything that I run that takes any
time to complete.
I use AOL 9.0, and that also disconnects me every 5 minutes.
There doesn't seem to be a scandisk program either, so I couldn't use that
to see if my hard disk had problems.
Does anyone have any ideas how I may remedy this? Or what the problem(s) may
be?
Thanks for reading, and for any help you give in advance
