How do i remove items from the taskbar in the lower right corner? (where
time is shown)
There is an icon saying "downloading updates; 0%" but there are no updates
downloading and whether i right click or left click the icon, nothing
happens.....i have automatic updates enabled but never saw that icon unless
updates were being downloaded...and once they were done, the icon would
disappear.....thanks for any help

Ronald, you can rt click on Taskbar>select Properties>Customize>Under
Current Items-Behavior Column click on those that
you want to get rid of and select Always Hide.

This also happens when you start a Windows update then abort it. You
probably have an update that is needed. Did you start to update to SP2 then
abort it?

FYI that's commonly referred to as the notification area (formerly
systray). Turn off automatic updates, then delete the contents of the
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download directory. Then turn automatic
updates on again.
