Taskbar won't resize

Haven't had to come ot theis group for a long time but I've got an
annoying problem.

I was dragging something to my QuickLaunch taskbar and when I let go the
whole taskbar resized itself to double width and I can't get it back again.

I can get the arrow to change to a double ended arrow but it won't drag
except to the very bottom of the screen and then the tasbar disappears
altogether!

I've tried locking and unlocking and gone through the context menu to
see if there was something in there. I've Googled and found someone with
the same problem in XP Pro (I have Home) but the solution that worked
there was to "try hiding more of the startup icons" and I can't do that
either.

The only thing I haven't tried is a reboot as I had just connected to
the internet when it happened. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

happened once to me, cleared up when I enlarged it even more, then
shrunk it back to one line

Thanks for the quick reply, didn't think of trying that but it did't work :(
One thing that is gone is the dotted line immediately following the
Quick Launch bar - the one that allows widening or narrowing of the the
Quick Launch section. All the others are there for the folders I have on
the taskbar though.

What has happened is you've moved the "dotted line" which represents the
end of the Quick Launch bar so far over to the right that it has gone
below the top task bar and therefore gives you that double-height bar.
What you need to do is with your left mouse button grab the bottom
dotted line and drag it up and closer to the left on the top. In
effect, you're making the Quick Launch bar shorter. Once you've done
that, you'll be able to shrink the bar back down to normal size.

You are my hero!!! Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!
I did what you said and first off I ended up with something even weirder
but after a bit of perseverence (?sp) I got it right and breathed an
audible sigh of relief. You'd think I'd have learned to adjust after
having it that way for over 2 hours but I guess you can't teach an old
dog new tricks :)

Thanks again
