Taskbar not responding (Windows XP Pro)

I use Windows XP Professional SP2, I have installed ALL the Windows Updates,
I'm protected (since the OS was installed) by the newest and daily updated
third party Internet Security Suite (ZoneAlarm®), and there is NO SPYWARE or
VIRUS infection in my PC.

Now, is there anyone who can explain the fact that EVERYTIME I'M CONNECTED
TO THE INTERNET (dial-up connection, though surely irrelevant to my problem)
the Windows Taskbar/Toolbar freezes (almost) to death, only to revive 5-10
minutes later (sometimes this happens more than once on a single
connection)???!!!

I can partially use my desktop only by having allready loaded the programs I
use while I'm in the net (mainly the Internet Browser) and can circle through
them only by using the Alt+Tab keys.

And, what is remarkable, all these happen on a newly installed (less than a
week ago) Genuine WinXP OS !!! I have a 15-year experience on PCs, I can
easily setup a PC on my own (both hardware & software) and I've never met
such a problem before.

I have the same problem (exactly the same) except it is a broadband
connection over pppoe.

Microsoft should look into this, I heard other users complaining too of this
Windows XP SP2 bug.
 
Confidentialy, the remarkable fact is that, among my friends, only those who
have installed GENUINE Windows XP SP2 (I hope you know what I mean) have had
this problem...
