TASKBAR HEIGHT TOO TALL.

A couple days after installing XP home vesion my task bar
height is now 1 inch tall. I think this is because the
time display is displaying time, day and date (All three)
I have tried every possible change to the Taskbar
Properties" options.
I can drag the taskbar to a larger size but not
snmaller. Any suggestions would be appreciated?

Just to be sure... Did you unlock the Taskbar prior to attempting this ?
Right-click a blank area on it and click on Unlock the Taskbar if it is
checkmarked. Then move it down when the two-headed arrow appears. Re-lock
Taskbar the same way it was unlocked.

My Task Bar is unlocked and the two headed arrow can grab
and expand the task bar but it will not shrink.
Presently it is 3X nomal size???
The change to a large size somehow coincided with a
change in the Taskbar date display format.

I've had a similar problem. My taskbar is twice as high as it needs to be. I
have found that I can get it back to a single line only by turning off the
quicklaunch toolbar, but despite asking here & elsewhere for an explanation
I've not resolved the problem.
