Is there a free or cheap taskbar clock that has date (like "Thurs Sept 7" ) ?
Or a way to change what the stock XP clock displays?

tia!!!

In XP expand the taskbar to two rows by grabbing the top edge and drag
it up. Then the date will display. If need be right click the taskbar
and choose unlock first.

As an alternative, if you only want the taskbar to be one row high,
there are free 3rd party utilities for them. There was a recent,
lengthy, post on here about that topic with numerous ones mentioned.
It's always wise to search the newsgroup messages before posting a new one.

Thanks for the link!
I tried TclockEX, but it didn't fill the vertical space completely, so went
to Tclock and that will probably be fine.

I am running 1280 x 1024 and have a double height task bar but I only get the
time and day of week - probably because I have played with the font sizes,
and don't totally understand yet what adjustment does what.

Thanks!

Okay. set the font size in Display Properties/Appearance back to normal and
that gives me all 3 lines.

Thanks!!!
