taskbar buttons don't display

The taskbar buttons for open folders and programs do not show up on the
taskbar. Alt-tab will cycle through the different windows, but there's
nothing on the taskbar to allow you to move between open windows. This only
occurs in one profile out of three on this computer. Using windows XP
professional. Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
