I have programmes such as windows update and defender updating on the
same day at the same time. In addition, I have defrag scheduled for a
weekly action at the same time.

I think it is probably alright to update programmes on the same day
and at the same time. But is it good practice to defrag at the same
time?

Best practice is to run Defrag standalone with nothing running with or
against it.
