You're not talking to Microsoft here. Everyone that posts here are
volunteers who like to help others, not Microsoft employees. If you need
that file call MS tech support.. You should never post a real email address
in a public newsgroup.

You won't find them here. If you want to talk to Microsoft's support
personnel, you need to call (800) 936-5700. Microsoft charges $35 per
call, whether or not they solve your problem.

Munging does nothing to fight spam and only makes it more difficult for
legitimate email replies to get through. It's better to use actually
effective server-side spam filtering methods (you might have to shop around
for an email provider that uses spamassassin
(http://spamassassin.apache.org/) scores as a basis to reject mail).

It stops you from getting the spammed. How exactly does it it make it more
difficult for legitimate email to get through? I've never had an legitimate
email tell me it had a hard time getting through. If I want someone to have
my email address I give it to them. No thanks, don't need your advice.

It forces the burden of filtering your email to the sender of legitimate
mail. Good anti-spam measures don't make legitimate senders make any
additional effort to ensure delivery. "It stops you from getting spammed"
shows a fundamental misunderstanding of anti-spam goals: The idea is to
stop spam from being sent without causing any additional burden for
legitimate users.

Legitimate users know my email. Sorry but your argument makes no sense.

Sure it does: Munging doesn't fight spam. Stopping spam at the source
fights spam. Shifting the burden of making sure mail you receive is
legitimate to the sender benefits nobody and only makes it a pain in the
ass for real people to email you. Remember that the cost in effort for a
legitimate user to reach you is nonzero unless they're in the same room,
the cost in effort for a spammer is *always* zero unless you hit them at
the source. Munging doesn't change this.

If someone finds it a pain in the ass to email me, they can tell me. Hasn't
happened, though. The people I want to email me have the address or can
easily get it, and I don't get much spam. If you want to fight spam at the
source, go for it. Tell me, who are these legitimate users you're so worried
about, that should have easy access to my email address? As I said before,
your arguments make no sense.
