task scheduler will not start

My LiveUpdate has not been working since I updated to
Norton Internet Security 2004 in January. I've finally
had some time this week to try to find the problem, and it
is because my task scheduler will not start. I get the
message "Could not start the Task Scheduler service on
Local Computer. Error 1720: The endpoint cannot be
created." I am virus, spyware, etc-free. I have tried
disabling Norton and deleting the Norton related tasks,
and was still unable to start it. I do have
administrative privileges on this computer, so I don't
think that should be the problem. I have searched the
Knowledge Bases of MS and Norton and googled to no end,
and I can't find any solution. This is my last effort
before I break down and contact support.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
 
Did you know that you can correspond with Symantec technical support as much
as you like for free? I've used this on several occasions, and have found
the techs to be helpful and polite.

Thanks for the recommendation. I did email them and they
were very polite, but so far they've only sent me links to
pages I've already tried. Hopefully they'll come up with
something soon.
