Need help trying to figure out how to get Task Schedule to open a web page
at a particular time. Can this be done?

Yes, it can be done. Use the task scheduler wizard to schedule your browser
to run (eg scroll down the list to Internet Explorer, and then change the
name of the task), then add the website in quotes after the iexplore.exe in
the run box, in the properties of the task.

eg changing it to

C:\PROGRA~1\INTERN~1\iexplore.exe "http://www.bbc.co.uk/"

If that is all you need to do, what Jon suggested would work
perfect for you.

If you also need to do some clicks and type things in a web
page, you can check out our windows automation software,
Workspace Macro Pro. You can get more information and free
trial download from

Oh.

I didn't see it earlier, and had just posted a query about auto
shutting xp down/booting up.

Please share with me whether I could use task schedular of the
above software to make xp shut down at a given time, and how?

I don't think it can boot xp up, or can that also be done using
"standby"?
