Task scheduler in Windows 2000-Professional

I built a new computer for home use and loaded Windows
2000 Professional. I am not on a network. I am trying to
set up some scheduled tasks such as Norton Live Update,
Windows update, and backup and all of them fail to start.
Can someone help?
 
Control Panel...
Administrative Tools...
Services...
Make sure the "Task Scheduler" Service is started,
and that your user account has proper access to the
program to run.

Read the "Scheduled Tasks" section in Windows Help.
