What should and needs to be running in Task Manager processes. My computer is very slow all of the sudden and I have a lot of things running in Task Manger. Also a lot of popups all of the sudden in Internet Explorer 6
 
Sounds like spyware or a home page hijacker.

Run these tools weekly:
spybot -- http://www.safer-networking.org/
ad-aware -- http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
HiJackThis - http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/
