Task Manager

I'm having the same problem, all of a sudden. Just installed XP last week,
haven't touched a thing and now my computer comes up to a screen (with the
blue sky)...but NO icons, menus, cursor or ANYTHING.

When I hit ctl-alt-del, it shows task manager with 13 different processes.

I tried the recovery module and fixboot but no.....defrag....chkdsk...new
boot disk...everything.

I tried to open "explorer.exe" in the applications tab but nothing.

It will however open "some" of my applications...but not all.

Hi,

how to stop showing Task Manager (in XP)when i am pressing
Ctfl+Alt+Del

I don't really understand your question, Ranjith. Do you mean that you
don't want Ctrl-Alt-Del to bring up the Task Manager or that there is
another problem with it?

It can be very hard for a non-technical person to know what to include
in a post to a tech support newsgroup. Here is a link that will help
you with that - http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

After you've read the information at that link, post back and someone
will help you.

I can't speak for Ranjith but what a pompous response.

His question is pretty strightforward.

My own technical background is electronics board level and design....first
class FCC....extra class amateur.....microcontroller programmer.

Ok, Mr computer repairman?

I'm sorry you thought it was pompous. I was actually trying to be polite
instead of giving the OP the classic comment made by David Candy:

"You could try 3 frogs' hearts and the blood of a virgin, mix and smear
on computer while chanting 'work, you bastard'. Or try posting the
error message."

Since you obviously understood the OP's question, what is the answer to
it then?

Turn off the Welcome screen.

Ctrl + Alt + Delete opens the Windows Security window if the Welcome screen
is turned off.

Turn off the Welcome screen...
1. In Control Panel, click User Accounts.
2. Click Change the way users log on or off.
3. Click to UNSelect the Use the welcome screen for fast and easy logon
check box.
4. Click OK.
