Go to Kelly's site:

and scroll down to line 113, left column 'Repair task manager.'

Good luck

I saved the REG file on my hard drive like it said and also added it to thr registry by clicking ok but my task manager still doesn't work. Did I save it wrong? Any other suggestions

HI greasydame,

Try this:
Enable or Disable Task Manager for the Current User
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_taskmgrenab.htm

If this doesn't work, then go to Start > run and type
taskmgr.exe

If still no joy, then open a command prompt (start > Run > cmd)
and type
sfc /scannow
This will need the XP CD, and might also need to be pointed to the
Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386 and Windows\System32\dllcache folders

The program will replace damaged or missing system files.

Good luck

I had the same problem with taskmgr.exe not opening. I tried scan with Norton, Panda, AdWare, SpyBot, sfc /scannow, nothing worked EXCEPT McAfee - www.mcafee.com.

Run a free virus scan from McAfee web site and see if it picks up anything. If it does, you will have to purchase the product - but well worth it.

McAfee found the SpyBot worm(s)and got rid of them.

Taskmgr.exe works fine not. True believer in McAfee!!
