task manager is not working

hi! ever time i go to my taskbar and right click to open my task manager it
does not show up, then when i go to start > Run and then type in taskmgr.exe
and then press ok i get this error message that says "Another program is
currently using the file". so is there any way i could fix this program or is
there a place to go on the internet that will show me what programs or files
are using task manager? if i could get anybodys help that would be great.

Check your machine for virus's and malware.
Run the following from safe mode

sysclean http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp for the program and
http://www.trendmicro.com/download/pattern.asp for the latest pattern file

What happens if from Start | Run you try msconfig and regedit? If they
don't run then it's probably a malware infection.
