Am relatively new to the computer world. I have just installed XP with internet connection but cannot get an Active internet connection icon to appear in my task bar. Makes it a bit hard to disconnect from the internet when I have finished. Can anyone tell me how to get this icon up or do I have to reinstall Windows XP

Start>Control Panel>Network and Internet Connections>Network
Connections>double click on Network Icon>Properties>check box "Show icon in
notification area when connected">OK. Should do it.

Go to Start, click Control Panel

Then select: Network and Internet Connections (this is in Category View)
Select Network Connections
Right click on your Dial Up Connection Icon
Select Properties
Check - Show icon in notification area ......

You may have an icon in your notification area which is for Local Area
Connection, double click that will bring up the Network Connections instead of
going through the Control Panel.

I hope I have explained this simply enough for you.
