Brandon

I am posting this for a friend who is a recent convert to XP from 9X.
This individual utilizes his system in a manner that necessitates up to 10
different windows open at the same time.
In 9X each separate window was shown in the task bar and he could click on
any particular one to bring that window to the forefront.
In XP he states that after opening 5 the tasks bunch into one box on the
task bar that he must click on( which opens a box) where he mat then click
on the window he needs to bring to the front.

The question is this...Is there a setting that he can change to keep the
tasks from"bunching" in the task bar?

Thank you

Hi

Right-click the Taskbar, select Properties and then uncheck 'Group similar taskbar buttons'. Apply>OK.

Hi Brandon,

The number allotment can be changed and the settings can be added to
Customize/Advanced, if this is the preferred method of running programs, etc
in XP. If this is behavior is not wanted at all.....

For the former:

Change number of windows that are open before XP will start grouping them on
the Taskbar: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_taskbargrouping.htm

Decrease Size of Taskbar Buttons (Line 97)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Restore Taskbar Grouping (Line 218)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Taskbar Grouping by #, Least or Most Used (Line 86)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Add Taskbar Grouping to Customize with All Options (Line 149)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

For the latter:

Right click the Notification Tray/Properties/Uncheck Group Similar Taskbar
Buttons.
