I am trying to get XP Pro to recognize an old Colorado t1000 tape drive.
When trying to install there are no listings under tape drives in the new
hardware wizard. I have found drivers from HP but there is none for XP,
only Win98 or NT 4.0. Which one would be the correct one to use or how
else would I get XP to see the internal tape drive.

brigan,

I ran into the same with an older Conner tape backup. I solved the problem
by taking the drive out and putting it in a W98 machine at the Computer Club.
When I want some files from the old tapes, I go up and remove the files that
I want. Once in the almost 2 years. I will probably never use it again.

WinXP (and Win2K) has NO drivers for Floppy based tape drives nor does the manufacturer
HP/Colorado.

Your drive will only work on Win9x/ME and NT4.

A tape drive that works off the Floppy Controller. Instead of connecting a floppy drive to
the floppy drive cable, you connect a tape drive.

Colorado/HP made *many* QIC models including the one mentioned by the OP.
