takes 6 seconds for each message to open in preview pane! Infuriating!!

Every time I click on a message or click on a folder, it takes 6 seconds for the message to appear in the Preview Pane!! It is really exasperating. My pc is a Win XP SP1, Outlook XP SP2, Exchange Server 2000 (SP1 I think...)

Any ideas?
 
See if disabling the Messenger integration helps you here;
Tools-> Options-> tab Other

Known issue. You won't see the delay when you are signed in with MSN
Messenger or Windows Messenger.

nope you're wrong there! I always have MSN Messenger signed on (6.1) and i still got that delay....
 
Well I have to admit that it isn't 100% fail proof. Fact remains that the
intgration takes time to check whether you know the contact by MSN and
whether or not he/she is online. Depending on several factors (like
connection speed and available memory) the delay is noticeble or not.
