Tabs work incorrectly in excel

I'm using Excel 2000 with windows xp professional. All
of a sudden tabs will not work correctly. Example, I'm
in column A and I hit a Tab, expecting to go to Column B,
instead I wind up in Column O. I've looked at every
option and I can't see anything that would cause this.
It's aggravating! Help
