Hi

I've created a Table of Contents for a 15 page document.
I've tried using both hyperlinks to bookmarks and
crossreferences but neither remain when I update the Table
of Contents... this document is evolving and needs to be
usable as is, but also updated a number of times a day and
I'm finding it tedious to recreate the links each time.
Is there any way to keep links to the headings while still
updating the ToC?

Thanks
Leeann

Hi Leeann,

In all versions of Word, a TOC created with the TOC field
automatically has hyperlinks from the page numbers to the headings. In
Word 2000 or later, the default is to include the \h switch in the
field, which makes the entire entry a hyperlink. (See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/TOCSwitches.htm for details.) You
shouldn't have to mess with manually inserting hyperlinks at all. Does
that work for you?

Thanks Jay,

I'm using Word97 and was trying to hyperlink from the ToC
headings rather than the page numbers.

Hi Leeann,

Sorry to say, with Word 97 your only options are to re-insert the hyperlinks
after updating the TOC field, or be satisfied with the page-number links.
