Hi ther
I have managed to set up a table of contents which I have done using numbered heading styles that I have created. However, the numbering is out of wack. I have 3 levels, which are supposed to look like the following
1 Heading on
1.1 Heading tw
1.1.1 Heading thre
The document does not have a heading two until after no 3. so looks like this
1
2
3
1.1 (instead of 3.1
Thanks for taking the time to help me out. I hope this makes sense

Hi =?Utf-8?B?Tmlja3k=?=,

This is a common problem if one has used one of the "previews", as a necessary setting was omitted.

Go back into Format/Numbering/Outline (if that's how you started), then click on Customize. (Do NOT click on any of the previews!)

Click the "More" button. Click on the Level 2 (top-left).

Now go to the bottom right and make sure it's set to renumber after Level 1 (you probably need to activate the checkbox)
