Table columns dropped when pasting from Excel to Powerpoint

I have often encountered this problem when pasting (linking) a table from Excel into Powerpoint or Word -- if the table happens to exceed a certain width, the right-most columns are dropped off. Re-sizing the object in Powerpoint does not fix this problem... can anyone offer advice on how to fix this problem?
